Course Enrollments: 12636 Enrolled
Mode of Delivery: on_demand
Course Level: Basic
Study Area: Computer Software & Applications

Recent research released by Microsoft shows that 80% of Excel users have yet to use pivot tables. In this presentation Excel expert David H. Ringstrom, CPA, covers the basics of creating and using Excel pivot tables. You'll quickly be able to instantly summarize lists of data into meaningful reports with just a few clicks of your mouse. As with many aspects of Excel, pivot tables have several nuances that can frustrate new users, so David will be sure to bring these to your attention so that you can use the feature effectively. David demonstrates every technique at least twice: first, on a PowerPoint slide with numbered steps, and second, in Excel 2016. He draws your attention to any differences in Excel 2013, 2010, or 2007 during the presentation as well as in his detailed handouts. David also provides an Excel workbook that includes most of the examples he uses during the webcast.

Topics covered:

  • Contrasting sorting data within worksheets to the nuances of sorting data within pivot tables.
  • Repositioning or removing subtotals within pivot tables.
  • Adding fields to a blank pivot table to create instant reports.
  • Filtering pivot table data based on a new dimension by using the Report Filter command.
  • Avoiding the dreaded PivotTable Field Name Already Exists error prompt.
  • Drilling down into the details behind any amount within a pivot table with just a double-click.
  • Distinguishing the differences among pivot table-related menus in Excel 2013 and later versus older versions of Excel.
  • Adding fields to a blank pivot table to create instant reports.
  • Determining which refresh commands in Excel update a single pivot table versus all pivot tables in a workbook.
  • Filtering pivot table data based on a new dimension by using the Report Filter command.
  • Determining which refresh commands in Excel update a single pivot table versus all pivot tables in a workbook.
  • Resetting all filters at once within a pivot table by way of the Clear Filters command.

This course is Part 1 of a 3 Part Series: Part 2: Excel Efficiency: Intermediate Pivot Tables Part 3: Excel Efficiency: Advanced Pivot Tables

Prerequisites

No advanced preparation or prerequisites are required for this course.

Learning Objective
  • Identify the location of the pivot table-related Subtotals command within Excel's ribbon menu interface.
  • Identify the location of the Field List command within Excel's ribbon menu interface.
  • Identify which of four ways is not a method for removing fields from a pivot table.

Good discussion but I don't think the answer for the first review question is correct.

User Image
gillian.burdge

I love the topic because it's relevant to the current time and it's not something I'd been trained on before regardless of the fact that I've been working remotely part of the time over the last 4+ years. I think that in order for remote work to be successful it's important to consider many of the things covered in this training. The training opened my eyes to all of the opportunities out there that will help me improve my remote work experience. I didn't like that so many website were covered without going into detail about some of them. It felt a little overwhelming. Also I'm interested in learning more about the best ones and details about what they can do. It surprised me that there were so many tools available. Anyone working remotely or considering remote work would get the most from this course.

I thought the course and instructor were very good. With all the material to test on, I thought it was unfair to have 2 out of the 5 questions calculating PV when this course never showed how PV was calculated.

Answer: There are countless ways to deal with bosses in this game. These are the strategies that I went with, prioritising safety, given that we only have a single life to work with. Question: I am having difficulties with these bosses. Answer: You are most likely not using the guide mentioned above and underleveled/geared. Question: Is this build capable of soloing every single Boss Fight in BG3? Answer: Yes. It's not the easiest build to do it with, but for me, it's the most fun. Question: There were some Legendary Actions changed in 6.0. Does this matter? Answer: Not at all. The changes were minor and are already accounted for. Question: The guide suggests skipping a Boss. Am I allowed to kill it anyway? Answer: Sure, go ahead but do it at your own risk. The reason why the note about the Boss is there is for your own safety. Some bosses are ruthless, especially against S

User Image
shannon.gilmore

Another great course - helps provide real-world examples to visualize ethical situations.

User Image
sherry.gong

What I appreciated: The recap at the end is helpful to reinforce the most important concepts. The quizes are a nice touch because it tests your knowledge while you're watching the course. Areas of improvement: There is a lot of content in this short course, and it would be overwhelming for someone who has no experience in accounting. Additionally, I think it's much more helpful to learners to teach that Assets = Liabilities + Equity rather than Assets - Liabilities = Equity, so it reinforces the idea that Liabilities & Equity should have a credit balances. When going over the example for Lesson 2: Posting Entries (continued), it would be helpful to list the numbers we know before showing the correct entry.

User Image
kim.hughes

In addition to macro recorder basics, I learned a couple of excel features! I appreciated the thorough explanations, common issues, and risks.

marsy.bassari

It was very hard to learn. It was like reading the ASC 718. I was hoping to get some examples or some other way of teaching.

User Image
sarah.pedroley

The instructor was very well spoken and easy to follow. But who ever wrote the course exams did not proof read at all. Not only were there several typos, but several were missing key words to the question. Thankfully the answers listed make it relatively simple to figure out which one option is correct, but it came off a bit sloppy.

The information provided in this course was presented well and provided a good overall understanding of the planning process of an audit. However, the exam itself needs to be proofread as there were several questions that were written so poorly as to make no sense of the question being asked.

User Image
kando.ohazurume

Professor Wu - This is second course of yours that I am taking and I am amazed of the various tricks and tips you have illustrated on sumifs and pivot tables. And yet, I am considered to be a pivot table expert! Thank you, I will continue to practise and use them for better outcomes.

Material not specific enough in terms of definitions and concepts.

User Image
julie.schmidt_1

This is one of the worst classes I have taken. The lecture is obviously read off a script and not well done. The content of the slides is not in a great format. Finally the review and final exam have a bunch of questions that don't even make sense. Skip this.

What I liked: This course offers a very comprehensive review of both accounting, financial analysis, and finance concepts. It gave me a good refresher on the accounting fundamentals, as well as taught me how to set up templates for financial forecasts (which is very useful). The review on debt vs equity financing is also helpful.

User Image
dylan.weaver

This course is a very basic but important guide in setting goals

User Image
randy.gilmore

I liked all of the examples, they were very easy to follow along with. The pace may be a bit fast for beginners but for me it was great.

User Image
timothy.driscoll

I wanted to rate this course a 5 star. It was some of the best content I've ever seen and for the first time, I have a strong understanding of cryptocurrency and what is truly behind it/what it means. Fantastic content and explanation of the material without question. However, the exam was extremely frustrating---just too much, with too much detail and confusing alternative answers. I felt like I took a college final, not reinforced what I learned.

User Image
hong.zhu

The best ethics course that I have taken. Thank you!

User Image
sarasherlock

I liked this course as I found that it was very informative and a great refresher on all the many methods and ways in which fraud can occur and be prevented as well.

User Image
john.keating_1

Overall a great reminder of how to be successful as we all continue to work from home more frequently

User Image
larry.watts

The examples were a bit dated. ITF; as an auditor I would never introduce test data tinto a live production environment and I have never worked in an environment that would allow.

User Image
yvonne.nordmann

Informative and easy to understand. Can't wait to use the new options!

User Image
matthew.towse

Excellent materials and will make for good reference going forward.

Quick refresher course on the fundamentals of the BS. It did discuss the IS to discuss RE. Really great for CPE but not helpful if you are looking for further knowledge. This would be great to review before watching more advanced dives into specific accounts or principals.

User Image
lori.hoffmann

This was the best ethics course I have taken. I really liked the case studies.

User Image

User Image
kelly.sanders

Great general overview of the new standard. Very informative.

User Image
rzuffanelli@google.com

The presentation was great but I'm wondering why some of the final exam questions were specific to ASC 605 (and not just what has changed from it) when that guidance has been superseded.

User Image
kerry.plemmons

Very good information given in this course, and given in a way that was very informative, not too wordy, and easy to understand.

User Image
stefc

This course was informative and presented in a professional manner. Neil keeps the listener engaged by talking about real life scenarios. I thoroughly enjoyed this course and would recommend it. In particular the subject about deflecting is the most interesting, we all have employees that like to complain. I tend to ask people how their day is going if they start out by complaining.

User Image

Excellent presentation about giving presentations! Learned a lot!

User Image
jack.hutchinson

very refreshing materials. well summarized and laid out effectively

User Image
thor.bendickson

Though the material in this course was well thought out and presented, I found it distasteful and unpatriotic to include a former president, not just as an example of an amoral/immoral leader, but also the answer to an exam question. Keep your politics out of my professional learning materials...

User Image
xiang.mar

Cybersecurity Program and Roles is a great course with in depth explanation and discussion.

User Image
stephen.sylvester

In just two hours, this course will allow accounting and finance professionals to write significantly better. The first part of the course shines. As a professional writer, it provided a useful summary of business writing principles. Most professionals will learn new information that they can instantly apply to improve their writing. While the second part also provided critical information, it felt much less content-dense than the first part. This section only needed half the time allotted. Overall, an excellent course and a productive use of time.

User Image
bev.stenger

Two exam questions were super confusing. Not well written. #2 and #4, other than that, was an excellent course

User Image
jacob.keiner

I really like this course and would recommend it to anyone who is stepping into or pursuing a leadership position.

User Image

I liked the overall content of the course. It should benefit all internal auditors regardless of organizational structure.

User Image
nikita.guskov

Very simple course, to be honest non interesting for me. I would expect more complicated material when read the description.

User Image
derrick.clarke

The scope of the exam was useful because it touched on all areas of financial accounting. It would also be beneficial to include payroll entries.

User Image
jesse.campbell

This course did a really nice job with individual case studies and footage of historical figures to illustrate the contrasts in leadership.

User Image
ting_wei.jao

I have to admit that I gave up on watching the video within 20 minutes because of the background music...it's really annoying.

User Image
brian.mcclain

Interesting take on analyzing your audience. Really enjoyed the course.

User Image
reaghan.reid

I didn't feel like the questions about The TV Show or "Nerds" were appropriate to the material. "Nerd" tends to be perceived as a derogatory term and doesn't feel like it fits in with the concept of Emotional Intelligence.

User Image
ccastillojr

I enjoyed this course as it discusses the importance and use of data analytics as it is the future of auditing.

User Image
adara.reese

Took this as a refresher. Just finished a finding development training and this lined up perfectly with what I learned during that training. Great extension to the knowledge base I already have!

User Image

I'd like to know more technical details of each of the computation.

User Image

I think Mr. Cook is an excellent presenter. Why aren't there more written / graphic / notated materials included with the CPE? More expensive CPE products generally include a PowerPoint. More important would be a transcript which can be very valuable for busy note-takers. I'm surprised these are not made available.

User Image
ting_yun.ting-stoffregen

The instructor was very thorough on explaining xlookup and its functionality. Furthermore, he provided detailed examples on how to overcome the constraints of vlookup, hlookup, xlookup and other formulas.

User Image

User Image

I thought this course provided a good overview of the new guidance when compared to the old. It would be nice to have more examples to walk through.

User Image

Felt like the guy was reading from a book and in the last section the slides didn't line up with what he was saying

User Image

Great course. However, question 10 answer on final exam is incorrect.

User Image
karen.jones

The material was explained clearly, I was surprised how simple it was to understand the lesion. Anyone who processes accounts payable will benefit from this course.

User Image
daniel.contreras

Similar to David's other courses, instruction was clear and concise. Not only will this help build a solid budget, but a few neat shortcuts and formulas are presented as well.

User Image
michelle.leu

Some good common sense ideas in this course, but it is primarily targeted for those with the authority to make a permanent change in not only month-end processes but also in the company's holistic approach to the accounting close

User Image
ethill

I found this second module to be more instructive/informational than the first with more actionable information.

User Image
craig.campbell

This course was well developed and well presented. Good coverage of the subject.

User Image
claudia_jones

High level overview which is good, but I would appreciate accounting courses that were more detail. Illumeo appears to be lacking in government accounting courses.

User Image

Great review of the financial statements for CPE credit. Great professor and lesson.

User Image

User Image

I dislike the questions about the different versions of Excel. I don't think this is relevant to the learning objective.

david.kapka

A very good course for both people new to blockchain and those who have a solid understanding already to help reinforce understanding

User Image
ryan.pauling

Served as a great refresher on the functionality of pivot tables. Would also be great for those that haven't used pivot tables previously. Instruction was thorough and clear.

User Image
david.avery

Great course to help satisfy the Ethics CPE requirement

User Image
janet.ashley

I remember this exam from the CBA when I first got my license and it was a killer. This exam was straight forward, was not tricky or sneaky to trip up applicants, and covered a wide range of topics that were relevant. Study the book topic locations and be able to find the answer rather than memorizing all the rules.

User Image
nancy.gauldie

Clear, concise and fast moving. Great tips and shortcuts. I've been using Excel for years and still learned a few tricks.

User Image
kfried

Other illumeo presenters should take this course! Awesome!

User Image
courtney.anderson

This was a great course. The fraud triangle is very important to reiterate how easy it is for people to rationalize their bad deeds.

User Image
jennifer.patt

Overall a good course. I didn't agree with every recommendation but it was a different view point that was worth hearing. Easy to follow and the information stuck. Hope to take away a few nuggets and apply to the "difficult" people I have in my life.

User Image
donna.jeffrey

It's confusing to have the ethics rules of several organizations interspersed throughout materials. The chapters don't clearly define which organization is being discussed in which chapter.

User Image
bryan.bostrom

This was a great course, full of applicable tips and shortcuts!

User Image
edward.hill

This course provided a good high level overview of how to conduct a risk assessment for SOX.

User Image
mark.mancao

Great basic course to provide a basic understanding of business combinations under topic 805. Would be better if it was not a text based course but an instructor led program.

User Image
nancy.macha

This course does not provide reference slides. It is also outdated with most information based on 2017-2018 tax years. Lastly, the final exam is riddled with typos, which makes the questions confusing.

User Image
azadeh.hamidi

It was a great course. Though, there were too much information given in a short time. As the instructor said, it needs lots of practice and repetition to be more efficient.

User Image
octavia.saunders

This class was very informative, I like how they gave detailed examples to have a better understanding.

User Image
daniel.herman

Provided a good basic background on what forensic accounting is and what a forensic accountant may be charged to do

User Image
sergey.bulychev

Training audit tests on specific examples will always help you learn the material more accurately.

User Image
kelly.kreutzer

I very much enjoyed this course. I myself can get stuck in ruts in life and this just helped motivate me to set some goals for myself and to achieve them!

User Image

Introduction to basic excel features. Course topics explained by working through numerous examples. Time estimate on the low side. Very good course.

This is a great course for someone trying to improve their budget process.

User Image
carmen.siu

This course is very easy to follow and the tip to get the budget template is great.

User Image
sheila.mehta

Did not like the slides the font was too big and did not flow. Material was ok.

User Image
bridget.alston

Good class overall. There are many complex topics covered in a short period of time, I had to watch a few of the topics several times to grasp concepts.

User Image
david_.ord

Enjoyed the take away for me of the importance of a leader looking ahead to the future instead of focusing on what happened in the past.

User Image
dhaval.kadakia

Very good refresher! Must take it every few years. Very good coverage.

User Image

The instructor made is very easy to follow. I found the course informative for beginners. It was easy to digest

User Image
lila.abrams

Sincerely one of the best training courses I've taken in a while. Great take away and presented in a way that lingers with the audience.

User Image
s_marie_.vernon

Great course in ethics of the CFO. Employees will only be as good as their management and this course emphasizes how the CFO can set the standard.

User Image
agoindoo

Excellent content. I would encourage the instructor to speak less monotone for a 5 star rating.

User Image
eric.cox

Recommended for anyone who needs a refresher on auditing or anyone who is about to go through an audit!

User Image
anne.heredia

I really liked this course. There were great examples and the material was interesting. Very applicable for small to medium size businesses.

User Image
rrees

Would appreciate more examples in the presentation - to cover more specific real life transactions. Or, more working through the math alongside IRS definitions/precidents and real deal terms. A working excel model, such as provided for other classes covering cash flow budgeting, might help as well. For one who is interested in the topic but has not handled a transaction in real life, more examples might help bridge gaps in terminology as well--had to research triple net leases offline for example, so my time to finish the course to well over the estimate. Thank you for the great presentation and valuable knowledge!!

User Image
sbhutoria

Very Organized and meticulous mode of instruction.

User Image
robyn.stock

Fantastic description of the different sampling types, and review of sampling strategies.

User Image
yuka.wada

Interesting course, worth enrolling even though CPE credit not available!

User Image
steven.srisamai

Overall, this course was very thorough and easy to follow. I would suggest breaking the material up into different courses as the cumulative exam was quite lengthy.

User Image
scott.lantz

I am a little surprised at how poorly this course is taught. It is a whole lot of information jammed into excessively long discussions and readings. There should be a lot more examples.

User Image
edward.restelli

This course is 6 stars out of 5 - the best and most thought provoking I have taken on Illumeo. I really enjoyed the links to psychological literature, and the action-oriented strategies and recommendations to improve these Executive traits. Take this course!

User Image
joyce.lassiter

Really enjoyed this course. Presenter was very knowledgable

User Image

There needs to be an option to adjust playback speed for the videos.

User Image
bertram.sinnathamby

The course is good but have to work through to get the concept.

User Image
bryan.hoffman

I enjoyed the format of the class. Would have liked to see more references to the actual rules of professional conduct

User Image
casey.johnson

A lot of detail and there are 64 questions in the final exam - make sure you take LOTS of notes.

User Image
fabiola.mullins

Different type of class. Was more of a psychology class and a bit new age thinking then your standard corporate CE class.

User Image
tgatley

A good course which comprehensively covered the new form. I did not understand question 1

User Image
matthew.hafer

Interesting tips but unrelated in application of what they do.

User Image
samuel.narotsky

Very useful as a practical guide and as a historical perspective (I was very involved with SOX work from the beginning until 2011, when my employer got bought by a European company).

User Image
gregory.timms

needs a transcript of lectures. Test questions have no relation to final test.

User Image
kevin_.vanloo

Excellent way of presenting the course in an effective way

User Image

Duplication of efforts noted in having two separate teams to setup vendors or add/edit vendors.

User Image
miyoung.cogswell

Content was fine but his frequent typo during the lecture was distracting.

User Image
donald.petter

David documents his points very thoroughly. His notes can be used for reference later to reinforce his teaching. I highly recommend him as an instructor.

User Image
jen.hiddema

well designed course and good use of current day situations to make their points

User Image
todd.d'angelo

The slides provided as a PDF were 90% blank. This makes the PDF useless as a reference guide for the future.

User Image
numeriano_.de_la_cruz_jr

The course is great for refreshing the skills in Pivot Tables. It is very informative and detailed. The presenter discusses the topic in a step-by-step procedure making it very clear and easy to understand.

User Image
brennen.hale

I agree with another review of the course i've seen. Class and information is great, however the questions involve too many "which is these is not" true types of questions which can add confusion to the reader.

User Image
stephen.brown

This course is a good introduction to those that have never managed a project and also a good refresher if you have been a project manager.

User Image
anthony_cahoon

Was a solid course in introducing basic shortcuts that are useful for excel users. The worksheet examples were comprehensive and helpful in practicing the shortcuts outlined in the course.

User Image
anton.chornyi

Very cool course! Many really useful things have been explained.

User Image
daria.westveer_1

angela.hesch

Very good course showing many types of leadership styles and why it is important to not be just one type of leader.

User Image
ted.feher

Very good basic course in modeling without getting too caught up in Excel functions and shortcuts or accounting jargon.

User Image
john.keating

The material is useful but the instructor is monotone, which makes it difficult to stay engaged.

User Image
gortega

The slides weren't very helpful, just added to the confusion by having all steps presented at once, with no natural flow for the eye to follow. Might want to look into how comic book panels are designed.

User Image
sean.kennedy

I thought the questions were less aligned to the information in the slide deck as they have been in other courses.

User Image
dora.chang

There were a lot of great tools on making your LinkedIn more effective.

User Image
neil.marriott

Especially appreciated the suggestions for feedback and meetings at the end of the presentation. Thanks Erin.

User Image

The course was interesting but could have been more organized and concise. The key concepts tested are spoken not listed on the slides.

User Image
christopher.maxwell

Great course. Lots of useful features explained in detail.

User Image
jeffrey.mollett

This course was very well presented by Victoria and easy to follow. This course was very educational as I can relate to most categories in the Generational Melting Pot. My parents would have fallen into the baby boomer category or just before it. I was born during the Generation X category and can relate to and agree with many of the items discussed during the course. My kids would be considered in the iGens category - up and coming.

User Image
kyle.hilliard

Most engaging course I've taken on this site. Instructor does very well holding your attention and keeping it interesting.

User Image
katy.pieper

This course was difficult to follow for those without a background in data analytics. It would be nice to be able to watch the instructor perform the tasks.

User Image
marizabeth.arocha

Excellent overview about temporary differences, very useful examples and exercises

User Image
vince.torchia

The course makes it seem like these changes would be simple when in reality this is a very high level overview.

User Image
tamara.hannon

Great advice! I only wish I would've seen this video sooner. I fell short on gathering all outside departments/groups together (my manager talked to them separately) and we didn't formally document current state (we only "sketched" the flow). All your steps were well thought out and descriptive. I can't wait to use these ideas.

User Image
vickie.jackson

Another excellent course by Jeff Lenning. So many helpful functions and tips. I just hope I can remember them all. I would have like to seen more examples.

User Image
elyse.khoury

I now know the power of the pivot table! Highly suggested for those who want to learn the basics on how to use and create a pivot table.

User Image
beldred

User Image
robert.stariha

Jeff's enthusiasm kept me engaged for the whole course.

User Image
patricia.meckes

This was a frustrating exercise of listening to someone read regulations for 3 hours.

User Image
elizabeth.ewing

Good course, I would like to expand more and go through some sample leases to learn to read the lease language that way as well.

User Image
brian.coughlin

Very insightful. I'll keep an eye out for her other content.

User Image
erika.poe

I liked that the instructor went through the lessons on PowerPoint with lots of pictures, and then showed how to actually perform the task on excel after each lesson.

User Image
courtney.gregory

This course gave excellent tips and short cuts. Very easy to follow along with the instructor as well as the exercises.

User Image
sheilah.mcbrown

Helpful information on those pesky error messages that we tend to live with rather than fix.

User Image
hank.mishima

Good overview of the topic. May want to add how an organization forms a policy in more detail.

User Image
christin.madison

The course was short, simple and straight to the point.

User Image
grant.ostler_1

The first portion was really basic, but the last portion was very helpful.

User Image
paul.whatley

This course provides a good overall view of what composes ethics and what influences it within an organization

User Image
justinesoares

Course was very helpful. Quiz questions were not as aligned to Payroll accounting as they could have been.

User Image
syed.ahmad

very good points and presented with great clarity and enthusiasm.

User Image
angela.dams

Instructor was very knowledgeable and gave a good summary of changes for 2018.

User Image
garett.johnson

I really liked it. I would hope to see more Examples in different industries, like healthcare on contract modifications.

User Image
brenna.jones

I thought the presenter was very engaging and easy to understand. One of the best Excel tutorial videos I've ever seen!

User Image
blaine.wright

One of the review questions says that repurchase rights for service providers apply only to unvested shares. What is it called when the company has the right to repurchase all the shares (whether vested or unvested)? that sounds like a repurchase right as well.

User Image
ldendrinos

I highly recommend this course to anyone working in accounting. The class material is filled with lots of examples. Great class.

User Image
shane.strong

Case studies are very helpful for practical application of the standard.

User Image
kristi.patton

I highly recommend this course. It was probably my most favorite course thus far. The presenter was well-spoken and impactful. His stories also help to keep you interested and wanting more.

User Image
yenny.coburn

The speakers talk a bit too fast at certain topic.

User Image
rachael_meachum

I really enjoyed this class. I used pivot tables everyday but he still showed me several tips and tricks that I hadn't used before. I really appreciated that he took the time to show how to perform the task multiple ways and even showed common mistakes and how to correct them. Definitely recommend this class!

User Image
tammy.lorenz

It's a little look into the background of Accounts Payable. It was helpful to learn when liabilities is established.

User Image
sergiy.korytko

Good discussion on recognizing revenue under the new revenue standard.

User Image
john.russell

Good concepts, but he goes very fast when working in excel.

User Image
mike.barhydt

Once again a knowledge of the exam questions is dependent on the participants enrollment in other programs within this certification program. Useful information but not connection to final exam questions.

User Image
dan.villanueva

Up-to-date approach for CPE course mentioning about proper use of the title in social media. I also like the fact that this is not only focused to CPAs in public practice but to anybody who is maintaining the tile.

User Image
peter.abader

great course for definitions and basic understanding of forensic accounting

User Image
kaylaag

Thank you for this amazing insight! I cannot wait to get started creating a successful business plan.

User Image
tim.au

Very good review on fundamentals of accounting/book keeping.

User Image
duy.nguyen

This was well detailed while providing very efficient timely lessons of the general topic.

User Image
mwong

Overall great webinar. It would be helpful to reduce the number of abbreviations in the slides though.

User Image
drh105

Very nice - I like the course and the image of the flat file...as it is probably similar to what a lot of people are seeing.

User Image
ronald.ritchie

Content was clear and concise. Could improve by including practice exercises for users then reviewing methods / approaches to arrive at correct responses.

User Image
jeremy.sallie

What you would expect for a foundation level course. The questions proved to be a nice refresher.

User Image
honghee.kim

This lecture let me think allocation my times for working efficiently.

User Image
sudip.roy

Dated content, should be removed. Thank you.. Thank you.. Thank you.. Thank you.. Thank you. 50 characters.

User Image
quinn.bonta

Great test for practicing payroll accounting principles.

User Image
julie.jones

There were some great shortcuts that will help to improve my workflow.

User Image
roger.luchtefeld

Course content was good and the materials provided were helpful.

User Image
bhadresh.bhatt

This is a very useful course for CMAs. I would recommend CMAs to take it.

User Image
makarand.vaidya

The course provided the required information quite effectively

User Image
dixie.gutwald

Good overall intro to power query. But the VBA portion was just copying existing code. OK for this level of course since focused on power query.

User Image
karmenko

it was a good pace and got me to think about things I hadn't considered before like how 90% of my time should be spent on communicating and how to tailor my communications to different levels

User Image
bryan.oliver

Thoroughly enjoyed the detailed analysis of excel functions and shortcuts. Excel is such an underutilized tool for data analytics.

User Image
ara_toroyan

great overview. educational Bruce obviously speaks from experience.

User Image
darrell.littleberry

This is a great ethics class aimed at actually teaching ethics. No trickery or mind-binding questions to unnecessarily make this important requirement hard to understand.

User Image
patrick.monzingo

This course gave me a view of LinkedIn that I did not previously have. I should take more advantage of LinkedIn in the future.

User Image
tina.atalig

This course was efficient and covered the main objectives of ethics review course required to renew CPA license in California every 2 years. I would take this course again when I need to renew again.

User Image
craig.scanlon

Much prefer video presentations. Case facts are much more obvious than typical fraud cases. CPA should never practice again demonstrating no knowledge and/or interest in identifying basis of fair financial presentation or uncovering significant issues with client financials.

User Image
eric.oosta

Good review course. Fairly simple accounting concepts.

User Image
hunter.stevens

Loved how this was all about the nuances in excel, made it more efficient and applicable

User Image
sam.lin

This course had enough detail to explain blockchains without getting too complex. He used good analogies to help explain the concepts.

User Image
nawaf.al_harbi

It was an amazing experience. Many thanks for your efforts.

User Image
marmstrong

Great material, effectively presented and well organized.

User Image
michael.robertson

The speed of the presenter when talking was way too fast. We were learning about presenting to non financial managers and I could not keep up with the flow of information. Way too fast and way too much.

User Image
chgrimes

Good discussion on recognizing revenue under the new revenue standard.

User Image
nebbster

This course is outdated, based on 2016 tax law. It is completely irrelevant in 2018/2019. It needs to be updated.

User Image
kirit.kapadia

Good insight in personalities and leadership. Excellent explanations of human behavior

User Image
angelina.williams

Good course, working as accounts payable is always good to take this type of course.

User Image
lori.dobson

Really liked the details (showing steps etc) in the slides

User Image
laj

audio was not the best and made his accent even harder to understand. he was reading a script very poorly and not presenting / chatting with the listener.

User Image
tgoodspeed

Great overview of the tax law changes! I hope you do another class once a lot of the guidance is laid out better!

User Image
cpoole

This was a good overview to understanding BI and offered basic tools to implement.

User Image
michael.ware

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor

User Image
laurabenson

The format for examples is helpful conceptually but difficult to read due to messy handwriting.

User Image
erika.phillips

Trainer was mostly reading from slides, didn't offer multiple examples.

User Image
david.perry

Could be broken in two smaller parts. Overall not bad but charting section should be separate. As to question on inserting pivot charts there are two correct answers - Insert tab and Analyze tab. I chose Analyze and was marked incorrect.

User Image
mmackanic

This class needs dramatic improvement. The class is simply a reading of the course materials in a monotone voice. There is no captivating element in it. It is challenging to learn from a class presented in this manner.

User Image
ronald.dipaola

Exactly what I needed, added many of the missing pieces for me. I like the format, showing what to do then, doing it. My only gripe is that the exam has questions on charts when no charts were in the course material.

User Image
ellen.hynes

Appreciate the thorough review, especially the foray into graphics.

User Image
michael.kelly

What I did not get from this course was comparing to different worksheets of data elements and trying to look for matches (comparing 2 different reports to validate that data agrees). Also, when the exam is finished and the passing grade has been received, it would be nice to see the questions again so we can see which ones may have been incorrect and going back and reviewing the data again.

User Image
oreillye

There were many tips for older versions of excel, not applicable in my case.

User Image
susan.vogler-wesp

Not terribly relevant now that Excel 2016 is available.

User Image
antonio.crawford

The course is excellent, it adds a different perspective in the function of the CAE as part of the company.

User Image
jon.koepke

Great insight on how Lease Accounting will change under IFRS 16. And all the decisions that must be made in properly booking right of use asset and liabilities starting next year

User Image
tonia.mathew

The overlap of information on the slides makes it hard for reference purposes.

User Image
wendy.augusto

I found this presentation to be insightful as well as informative. I appreciated the presenters approach to the subject. She was able to present the information with a personal approach. She provided realistic tools for success instead of buzz words and trite "solutions".

User Image
thalliday

It was a good course. I wish it would have gone into more with subtotaling as it relates to pivot tables. Never saw the need for a custom list but it was interesting to learn. My favorite part was learning the Alt = is the shortcut for SUM.

User Image
manish.kothari

The speaker has provided very nice explanation with examples.

User Image
susan.harder

Lots of helpful tips & insights. Good ideas of different ways to deal with conflicts.

User Image
mbryant

I liked the examples that were given and the content was good. there were many topics that are good for the beginner in the accounting field and a good refresher for those with experience.

User Image
orfeater

great course for learning some of the other things Pivot Tables can do. Not just about summing and moving, but rather better ways to do calculations and learning best practices.

User Image
christine.eubanks

This course would be beneficial for consultants that work with small companies that do not have a finance department.

User Image
aoneill

Helpful - quick easy pointer to make my pivot table use more efficient

User Image
lisa.burke

Helpful intro - hard time hearing the audio at times.

User Image
bruce.reed

This course was a thorough reminder of the ethical requirements of the CFO, as well as the general responsibilities of the role.

User Image
janis.balodis

Course was very interesting! Its also very useful for further understanding.

User Image
zarksis.italia

Excellent course for ratio analysis, very well presented

User Image
angan

This is an excellent starter course to get anyone who is interested in the new revenue recognition standards, ASC 606, familiar with the new requirements. It breaks down the 5 step model and explains what is required for each step.

User Image
melissa.gruner

There are no slides for this series that are needed for documentation purposes.

User Image
gabriel.torralba

I'm a self-taught, no manual "trial and error" Excel user, who uses "intuition" and experience to create what I have to do. This often leads to long and convoluted steps to get to the final product. I learned a couple of features that basically cut those long convoluted steps to a step or two.

User Image
bruce.merrell

A very eye-opening orientation to various analytical models

User Image
christine.seres

More time should be allocated to this course if the individual is attempting to complete the exercises as part of their training.

User Image
darla.saux

Not a primer and if you already know how to get around the AICPA Professional Code of Conduct, you don't need this course. It just isn't very straightforward or clear; perhaps it could have benefited from more time allocated. Very hard to stay focused and follow.

User Image
lori.sherrill

The instructor gives me much to think about. There is so much in here that I think many aren't willing to say even though we know it to be true. There are many politics involved in the workplace. It is unfortunate, but reality, and he helps you to work through this unfortunate reality.

User Image
jfretschl

It was a clearly explained the topic and the financial impact of the changes

User Image
martin.lintag

Liked that there were sample worksheets to follow the videos along with.

User Image
declanharte

If I could have given 6 stars, it mightn't have been enough. He provided a very practical roadway to finance excellence. Great enthusiastic and knowledgeable presenter.

User Image
charles.tuggle

The text in the spreadsheet was too small to follow the instructor on a 17 inch monitor

User Image
erin.milroth

nothing to add good course on financial information that is useful in conversation

User Image
diane.suznovich

It seemed that slides were not in order. For example, the review of the first question was not presented until the final section. Also, 120/240 equals 50% not 240/120, which equals 2, as shown on the slides.

User Image
torin.campbell

Very thorough and valuable information. I noticed after I was part way into the course that the copyright mark is 2015 so I wonder what's different in 2017? I'll have to look into it....

User Image
josh.amdahl

I enjoyed the course. It helped me understand how to resolve workplace conflicts, and what to look for.

User Image
bell3179

Simply the best instructor I have found on Illumeo. Extremely thorough, technical and practical.

User Image
william.teets

Good overview of the process from beginning to end with sound advice along the way. Thank you.

User Image

great overview for non-sales tax experts. Great examples to support the rules.

User Image

Good course...nothing special just solid basic learning

User Image

This is a great course in terms of the material but everything felt rushed.

User Image

This has improve my excel knowledge tenfold. thank you for your well thought out plan and explanations.

User Image

this was an important course and included many relevant examples

User Image

Great class, wish you would slow down on showing where some of the functions live.

User Image
becky.williams

The training was well organized and was probably the best Ethics course i have taken.

User Image
thomas.tamura

Excellent instructor. Entertaining and very informative. Increase in understanding of sumifs.

User Image
john.loock

Very good explanation of Pivot Tables. Easy to follow and understand.

User Image
rhonda.daugherty

I agree with the other reviewers that the exam focused too much on the actual result of a calculation of present value and not on the actual topic of lease accounting.

User Image
narendran.selvakumar

The instructor explains the concepts with relevant examples which makes it easy to understand and apply. The course is well structured and detailed to provide step by step procedure for creating RBIA approach.

User Image
tiffany.dixon
