Pricing in the credit card processing industry is very complex and most merchant statements do not make it any easier to understand. There are various players in the payments space and so much industry jargon that getting a handle on your payments can be difficult and time consuming if you don’t fully understand the process.
This course starts with an overview of the payments landscape then we look at the key players and their roles, from the Credit Card Associations to the Merchant Providers. We then look at the flow of a credit card transaction and the different components that make up the cost of processing those transactions. Since interchange is the largest cost, we delve deep into understanding interchange and identifying ways to optimize interchange while reducing the overall costs of processing credit and debit cards.
We round out the course by covering some of the main pain points that many organizations have with the payments process, including downgrades, chargebacks, and the overall management of payments.

Learning Objective
- Explore the key players in the payments industry and the role they play

I especially appreciated the David Foster Wallace commencement speech at the end.
Materials need some improvement. They are just bullet points without any context. That's good for normal presentations, but won't be useful if trying to use as a guide later on when the information is not fresh in our minds.
I really appreciate the CPE surrounding IT risks. Hoping to see more about OT risks in the future ... given IT/OT convergence (standards are: 62443, Purdue and cross-reference to NIST). I am an IT/OT Third Party Risk Manager, and my focus is Operations Tech (large manufacturing). Thank you!
Very helpful. Will likely watch again and take notes - some good tips in how to do things more efficiently and make the presentation look more ptofessional in Powerpoint

If you want a good refresher or overview of ASC 606, this course provides that. If you wanted answers on how COVID impacts the application of ASC 606, this course is good at identifying questions to consider but leave many questions unanswered.
Somewhat interesting. More practical examples wouldve helped.
