It's been more than 20 years since the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) released its Internal Control—Integrated Framework (the original framework). The original framework is widely accepted as a leading framework for designing, implementing, and conducting internal control and assessing the effectiveness of internal control. Since then, technology has drastically changed the business operating environment and the associated risks. In May 2013, the COSO foundation released an update to the framework.
The framework was updated due to global economic changes, enhanced information technology and increased shareholder expectations. Professionals must obtain a basic understanding of the concepts, principles and potential impact, including changes from the 1992 framework and the key COSO components and 17 principles. This course provides an overview of the important concepts of COSO 2013. You'll learn about the important changes in the COSO framework and explore opportunities for management to place a renewed focus on internal control and enhance and solidify their Sarbanes-Oxley attestation.
Citations of information on the COSO framework, principles and points of focus mentioned through this course are directly worded from the COSO literature and relayed here with the permission of COSO.org as a training mechanism related to their framework. The full document of the Framework can be found at COSO.org.
Information within this course comes from readily available public domain documents and is utilized by the trainer as a supplement for relaying the course content.
Note: The concepts outlined in this course are up to date and relevant in regards to the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation. Although there have not been any changes in the legislative concepts of the law since it’s release in 2002, some aspects of executing the work have evolved. This speaker is preparing a series of courses titled “Sarbanes-Oxley 20 years later”. Those courses can be found individually on the platform and would be beneficial for anyone involved with compliance.

Informative, interesting and up-to-date. Useful for all employees, particularly for managers.
Concise review of journals, ledgers and GL. Good use of examples. The PDFs are extremely helpful as I listened to the recording.

This is a good ESG overview. I removed a star because the pace was too slow for me. It's important to watch this on a PC or iPad so that you can watch at 1.5x speed.
Blair Cook was an excellent presenter. The material was useful.
Course could use some updating and more information about what ITGCs are and how all ITGCs are applied. NIST is not the only framework appropriate for ITGCs. Organizations may be more business focused and not security focused and prefer using a more focused framework than NIST. COBIT comes to mind but it does not cover all requirements and at times is hard to understand. I would not say NIST is easy to understand. ITGCs are spread out across a number of the 23 topics and need to be linked back to specific ITGC objectives for a control/process owner to see the his entire domain within one picture.
This was very helpful and I will definitely save these training materials if our department is ever called on to conduct an audit of the network. Currently we also have an Information Security team that is a second line of defense to our Internal Audit team.
Good course! Just the right amount of content, and also challenging. Would recommend this.
Material and review/exam content was not crisp and clear. Review question & answers were not accurate. Exam questions and answers were confusing and subjective.

I would have liked a deeper dive on the SOX Testing Process and IT sections. IT was very general and didn't give a lot of specifics or depth. The control testing didn't even mention IPE. Would have liked more guidance on testing specifics. The background, explanation of legislation, auditing standards, COSO, etc were very beneficial.
I liked the presenters tone, word choice and rate at which she talked. It helped me to better follow along.

Great overview of COSO 2013 and how management is responsible for their internal controls.
The course was adequate but suggest you relook at the questions. The use of not in the questions is very confusing even for the most experienced person. Also your question in the final exam on incentives is poorly worded
Good refresher course to understand the concept of SOX
I am with a new company implementing a SOX program. While I had experience in SOX previous to this class, these lectures have provided new information, a great foundation, and good real world examples. I will likely be returning to the classes and handouts on a routine basis for guidance.

Straightforward ethics course, mostly verbatim from the Ohio Revised Code. Meets the objectives, but would have appreciated more examples.
NIST can be intimidating. This series is a good breakdown of the components to make it understandable.
Good review of various types of audit reports that can be issued. However, this course did not cover the dating of the report or the auditor's responsibilities for reporting of subsequent events.
A lot to digest! Terms are essential in understanding concepts.
LOTS of good information! So much actually that I am sure that I need to come back to these slides many times to really understand this thoroughly. There are so many things to be taken into consideration. Good templates and examples.
Chris's class was great! It provided several topics to think and reflect on.
Gave a good overview of SOX related to ITGC. Would have like to gone into more detail on application controls. Overall, good course.

This was a very confusing one. I finally passed when I answered one question which seemed again what the material and I understood. It was question six. I disagree that it should be answer A. A going concern is considered when a company has issues about going a year from the opinion letter date.

Everything is making sense but I guess what I'm struggling with is how to identify the "differences" between ASC 606 vs previous version. I felt like all the things that you said existed before. I was wondering if there is a summary/table available where I can clearly see the difference in transaction treatment between ASC 606 and the old version.

Great information! Easy to understand and overall meaningful content....
The final exam questions that were not fully or well discussed in the presentation.
It seemed a little odd to spend only 10 percent of the class on solutions and not to have a section on examples of how solutions work. I think there was some of this in the rest of the course, but it wasn't explicit.
it was good........................................

It is a little challenging to listen to this presenter. She seems very repetitive. I also was discouraged that every time she referred to a leadership position, she used the term "he."

Very good, very basic overview. Blair provides an excellent introduction to the topic that helps make the "accounting-speak" jargon more transparent, so that newbies can understand better what they are looking at, and can be more productive.
