User Image
travis.harris

Solid regulatory review course. I enjoyed reading about the real world examples

User Image
vicki.furnish

The slides displayed for this ppt did not really align with the script the speaker was following. She referenced a significant amount of material she did not share on the slides. In addition, she mentioned balancing T accounts, but never showed, how here entries balanced - expected her audience to assume or add in their head. And seemed to be more a basis 101 on accounting with very little on payroll.

User Image
avraham.mafouda

Clear, concise, and practical. Perfect for beginners!

User Image
matthew.delaney

I will comment on one aspect of the course in particular. The presenter recommended criminal background checks as a method to prevent fraud. He fails to address the issue that biases in the criminal justice system against racial minorities result in such checks having a disparate impact on those same minorities. He also does not address the fact that such checks will turn up information that is prejudicial but of questionable relevance for preventing fraud (for example, minor drug convictions or other minor violations of the law), which in turn will make it difficult for people with those convictions to move on from their pasts. Other than that, the course was good.

User Image

User Image

I always enjoy Neil's classes and how he teaches. His storytelling always makes the class fun and engaging. I love how simple the concepts always seem when he breaks things down. Difficult people are tough to deal with and work with, but, we always have the choice to deal with it and control ourselves, or, we let ourselves get affected by the negative emotion. But, the choice is ours.

User Image

User Image
magda.nicosia

User Image

Materials need some improvement. They are just bullet points without any context. That's good for normal presentations, but won't be useful if trying to use as a guide later on when the information is not fresh in our minds.

User Image
mark.cunningham

This is a high-level overview of information that all CPAs already know, but it's a great refresher. Highly recommend

User Image
kerrey.lynch

This course is important for employees on all levels and even in our personal lives. I really like the points made on the importance of Listening well.

User Image
sherry.gong

What I appreciated: The recap at the end is helpful to reinforce the most important concepts. The quizes are a nice touch because it tests your knowledge while you're watching the course. Areas of improvement: There is a lot of content in this short course, and it would be overwhelming for someone who has no experience in accounting. Additionally, I think it's much more helpful to learners to teach that Assets = Liabilities + Equity rather than Assets - Liabilities = Equity, so it reinforces the idea that Liabilities & Equity should have a credit balances. When going over the example for Lesson 2: Posting Entries (continued), it would be helpful to list the numbers we know before showing the correct entry.

User Image
carlos.rangel

Very concise and to the point. I like the instructor's ideas to improve the book's closing timing. It was well-presented and organized.

User Image

While the module content is good, as others have stated, the exam is absurdly long relative to the module contents, includes questions on topics that are not covered by this module, and also contains a handful of errors. The exam is in serious need of tailoring for this module.

It was a lot of good information that I was unaware of due to overwhelming work schedules these past few years since inception of TIGTA. The review and test were a bit confusing.. especially since some of the answers were not the same as an IRS.GOV site, so where to locate? Either way, the course and information was quite informative.

User Image
dan.poaletti

Great lesson on a bunch of random tax strategies - some more well known and others much more detail specific. Very good, in-depth look at rental properties and personal residences in many possible forms. As for the exam, the home exclusion question's answer is incorrect. Technically the rule is 2 out of 5 years before the sale, so even if the property is rented out through 2022, that means that 2018-2019 it was personal use and then 2020-2022 was rented.

User Image

The examples scenarios were very helpful. I enjoyed the cadence and how the information was presented and the corresponding pdf file to download for reference.

A fun short course, self explanatory about meetings and the structure.

User Image
heather.roberts_1

I would have like to have seen how you initially created the dashboard.

User Image
mike.cowan

Most useful course taken this year, loaded with practical applications and resources to add value to my financial presentations and discussions

User Image
christina.domas

Very nice instructor and took the time to go over everything.

User Image

the course is a good review of basic accounting theory. author explained in quite detail

User Image
dennis.roberts

Good introduction to TPA for our foreign sub. Gives guidance on where to find more detailed information for specific countries.

User Image
swoodwor

Kay was excellent at getting the point across. He was a little happy with his wand drawings to the point it covered the presentation.

User Image
sarah.torline

I was looking for an entry-level course to share with my payroll team to give them a basic understanding of accounting principles. While this course does deliver on the basic principles, the speaker wasn't very engaging and there were some errors mentioned in the material. The most significant was that the speaker kept referring to a fiscal year as a "physical year". If you are assigning this course to someone, I'd recommend you take it first. If you're taking this on your own, the included "glossary" only includes 5 words; I'd recommend googling relevant terminology. It's really not a bad course for what you pay, but don't expect to be "wow-ed".

User Image
thor.bendickson

Though the material in this course was well thought out and presented, I found it distasteful and unpatriotic to include a former president, not just as an example of an amoral/immoral leader, but also the answer to an exam question. Keep your politics out of my professional learning materials...

User Image
louella.stover

This course is excellent for the beginner. The instructor does a great job explaining the basics.

User Image
stephanie.lecuyer11

I appreciated the focus on this course on the journey to beocme a better ethical leader. The class addresses specific actions a leader can take to promote ethical behaviour across the company.

User Image
dennis.fisher

A few things that I didn't hear mentioned (granted, I may have missed them)... You can still contribute to a Traditional IRA if you break the income thresholds, it's just not deductible from taxable income. Contribution limits are only relevant for Roth IRAs and there are workarounds (backdoor Roth). Joint life expectancy tables can only be used with spousal beneficiaries.

User Image
ablonigan

Good review of concepts and provided valuation info

User Image
ross_.connor

This instructor does a great job with her classes. The tests are actually based on the course and the material.

User Image
derek.cam

Loved the examples shown for the several advanced chart types. The waterfall and combo chart have immediate applications to quarterly IS meetings.

User Image
susan.cypert

Lynn delivered this course in a clear and understandable manner. I enjoy listening and learning the knowledge she provides.

User Image
lynn.farrar

I enjoyed this presentation very much. I had no idea about the extra leave time that had been added. I have not been working. Thank you

User Image
marcos.perez

Very informative on how to be an effective leader. I like how it got to specifics how reactive leaders are fear based leaders. I know now that I must put those fears aside and shift my mentality to a team mentality as opposed to thinking of myself.

User Image
marquita.money

Simple, but very informative. Useful information provided by qualified instructor. Topics were covered effectively. Instructor was clear and concise. Very knowledgeable instructor.

User Image
quincy.walker

Overall this is a good course. It is easy to listen to and to follow. Yet there are not enough references to the exact ASCs. Also an all comprehensive example would improve this course.

User Image
steven.stanforth

The handout materials are 109 pages, but could be improved if more graphics and flowcharts were utilized.

User Image
tom.cossentino

This course was exceptionally well done. I especially enjoyed the use of short supporting stories and examples from the presenter's personal experiences. This was one of the most enjoyable CPE courses I have taken and I look forward to taking additional courses from this presenter! Thanks!

User Image
cuiping.wang_parkhur

This is a very comprehensive course for tax planning strategies for short-term rental properties.

User Image
nikita.guskov

Very simple course, to be honest non interesting for me. I would expect more complicated material when read the description.

User Image
sandra.wilson

Would prefer handouts that are an outline of what is discussed, rather than blank pages to take notes.

User Image
derrick.clarke

The scope of the exam was useful because it touched on all areas of financial accounting. It would also be beneficial to include payroll entries.

User Image
amy.j.miller

great class thank you. i will recommend. i am so glad i took it.

User Image
yemisia@google.com

This was very informative; easy to follow and I learned a lot of new things. Thank you!

User Image
reaghan.reid

I didn't feel like the questions about The TV Show or "Nerds" were appropriate to the material. "Nerd" tends to be perceived as a derogatory term and doesn't feel like it fits in with the concept of Emotional Intelligence.

User Image
sahlenia.braun

The material covered was very detailed and this session covered a lot of good information for both state and unemployment.

User Image
kingsley.onyekwelu

Barry Zalma is very dull and boring. He even seems un-interested in the lecture he is giving.

User Image
michael.karkowsky

I think Mr. Cook is an excellent presenter. Why aren't there more written / graphic / notated materials included with the CPE? More expensive CPE products generally include a PowerPoint. More important would be a transcript which can be very valuable for busy note-takers. I'm surprised these are not made available.

User Image
yanan.wang10

This course is relatively political for accounting and finance professionals. Giving a few examples of politicians or politically linked business leaders isn't necessarily the best way to present ethical issues. Climate change also isn't necessarily an imminent concern for accounting and finance professionals.

User Image
ting_yun.ting-stoffregen

The instructor was very thorough on explaining xlookup and its functionality. Furthermore, he provided detailed examples on how to overcome the constraints of vlookup, hlookup, xlookup and other formulas.

User Image

This is a great course and should be taken and put to action by all managers/upper-mgmt. A lot of times I hear the 'vision' but don't always see it implemented or followed

User Image

User Image

User Image

High level overview which is good, but I would appreciate accounting courses that were more detail. Illumeo appears to be lacking in government accounting courses.

User Image

User Image
melissa.michaud

User Image
chante.caruso

I think the course 1. should include the slideshows with the supporting materials and 2. The last section - "Gifts Splitting and Estate Taxes and Conclusion" - the audio does not tie with the slides shown. Overall, hard topic to cover but did the best they can do with all the information provided (best I have seen it done)

User Image
chendiliang

Good accounting class that serves as a refresher for accounting basics.

User Image

Presentation was great. Neil was engaging and effective. I can see myself utilizing this information immediately.

User Image

The review questions were not structured well. The premise in the question (ie. is this permitted) did not match well with the phrasing of the responses. However, the final exam questions were properly structured, reducing possible confusion.

User Image

User Image

User Image
christle.madding

very thorough overview of the internal audit process and the guidelines by which they are governed.

User Image

This was an excellent presentation of tools that are key to efficient payroll analysis. The student should invest personal time practicing the applications but the material could not have been presented better. Slides were well formatted and are usable for future reference.

User Image
laura.reames

User Image
rrees

Would appreciate more examples in the presentation - to cover more specific real life transactions. Or, more working through the math alongside IRS definitions/precidents and real deal terms. A working excel model, such as provided for other classes covering cash flow budgeting, might help as well. For one who is interested in the topic but has not handled a transaction in real life, more examples might help bridge gaps in terminology as well--had to research triple net leases offline for example, so my time to finish the course to well over the estimate. Thank you for the great presentation and valuable knowledge!!

User Image
tangjun@google.com

I really like Jennifer's class that has detail contents in her presentation. The material is very helpful.
