David did good job explaining the basic uses of a Pivot Table and breaking things down in steps to make the process easy to understand. I'll use this knowledge in the future in creating Pivot Tables.

User Image

Some questions on test were very confusing. The amount of calculations required were also extensive. Should work to make questions clearer.

User Image
chad.bailey

Materials need some improvement. They are just bullet points without any context. That's good for normal presentations, but won't be useful if trying to use as a guide later on when the information is not fresh in our minds.

User Image
katie.murrey

Overall, a good course to learn about multiple lookup equations.

It was a lot of good information that I was unaware of due to overwhelming work schedules these past few years since inception of TIGTA. The review and test were a bit confusing.. especially since some of the answers were not the same as an IRS.GOV site, so where to locate? Either way, the course and information was quite informative.

User Image

Having 3 different people jumping back and forth caused a lot of confusion and the material seemed to have gaps. Specifically betwen slide 22 & 23. At the beginning of slide 23 she says thank you for all of that insight....what insight? I didn't hear any insight from slide 22 as it seemed they skipped over half of that slide. The presentation was very choppy. I ended up stopping the presentation and just thumbing through the slides to get a passing exam. There are other really great courses on AI within Illumeo to explore

User Image

I've taken several of Lynn's courses on Illumeo. The content is good. However, the tests exhibit a pattern of unnecessary examination. For example, almost every 1 hour CPE course on Illumeo has 5 questions. This one has 10. Her questions are often wordy and contain multiple, multiple choice answers. It's more of an annoyance at the end of a usually informative session.

Really great content, that is taught efficiently without consuming excessive time. The only reason I gave less than 5 stars on this one is, I do not remember covering the match function in the presentation or worksheets (unless I missed it, then I retract this comment), but there was a question on the exam about it.

User Image
edward.muller

Extremely polished presentation and the the detailed examples help drive home how each function works.

User Image
vickie.cockrum

In total, it was very informative & I appreciated the detailed explanations. However I could have done without the instructors introduction of all of his background. Also the summary on how this course compares to similar courses was not needed.

Good course for the various fraudulent schemes that are appearing everyday in the workplace

User Image
christopher.madsen

Some of the editing of the instructor dialog is choppy - for example in the "Corporation" portion you can hear him curse (damn) at about the 3:23 mark and then at around the 7:00 mark he seems to be cut-off mid-thought and so you miss the point being made. All-in-all, good information is provided and there is certainly value in the course.

User Image

I wanted to rate this course a 5 star. It was some of the best content I've ever seen and for the first time, I have a strong understanding of cryptocurrency and what is truly behind it/what it means. Fantastic content and explanation of the material without question. However, the exam was extremely frustrating---just too much, with too much detail and confusing alternative answers. I felt like I took a college final, not reinforced what I learned.

In just two hours, this course will allow accounting and finance professionals to write significantly better. The first part of the course shines. As a professional writer, it provided a useful summary of business writing principles. Most professionals will learn new information that they can instantly apply to improve their writing. While the second part also provided critical information, it felt much less content-dense than the first part. This section only needed half the time allotted. Overall, an excellent course and a productive use of time.

User Image
susan.jensen

I really learned most of this through experience and a passion for knowledge, but it would have helped to have this road map at the start of my career. Always striving to do the best for the benefit of everyone will bring you success.

A few things that I didn't hear mentioned (granted, I may have missed them)... You can still contribute to a Traditional IRA if you break the income thresholds, it's just not deductible from taxable income. Contribution limits are only relevant for Roth IRAs and there are workarounds (backdoor Roth). Joint life expectancy tables can only be used with spousal beneficiaries.

User Image

User Image
eileen.oldham

Clearly a very thorough series of courses and the speaker brought a lot of personal experience to the courses. A young grad wishing to climb the ladder would benefit from this series. I wish the final exam could have been taken in pieces as I progressed through the series as opposed to doing all 61 questions after listening to the 8 courses.

User Image

I hate to say it, but this course was terrible. It was like ASC 718 was just copied and read off. It was very hard to understand and no time was taken to really explain concepts. Not a helpful course at all and I am a 20+ year CPA and SaaS controller. Needs to be completely reworked.

User Image
portia.johnson

This course contained practical advice for improving audit processes and behaviors for auditors with any level of experience. I found this course very valuable and appreciate the presenter's insight.

User Image
chaya.fuhrer

1) I did not like that instructor just read from the slides with no more explaining. once i realized this i just opened the slides and read them on my own in 15 minutes and took the test and got 100% 2) i took this course because i was trying to figure out if a client needs a yellow book audit and the course description said "Yellow Book 1: This course covers reasons a GAGAS audit is performed" but after reading all slides i still don't know when an entity must perform a yellow book audit. on page 9 of slides it says "when use of gagas is required or voluntarily followed" but no further info was provided. i am disappointed.

User Image

Hollywood review = the book was better than the movie. That is unless you prefer to have someone read tax tables to you as well as excerpts of IRS code. It also includes a lot of coverage of provisions that it details as not part of the act so I am not sure why we are devoting the time to things that didn't happen.

User Image
samuel.woldeghiorgis

Exam questions too many! they should be broken to three or four parts!

User Image
brenda.boydston

I dislike the questions about the different versions of Excel. I don't think this is relevant to the learning objective.

This course does not provide reference slides. It is also outdated with most information based on 2017-2018 tax years. Lastly, the final exam is riddled with typos, which makes the questions confusing.

User Image
mike.spanton

User Image
diana.carter

There should be a handout which can be referred to with more information that assists with the exam. This took longer than 3 hours.

User Image
sherreen.kumala

The course teaches hard and useful concepts for people without basic knowledge. I think having the slide notes could be improved with more pictures, illustrations and highlighting the notes where it is important for people to remember in mnemonic. This way it will help people to capture the big picture of the hard concepts that it is trying to convey.

User Image
smclaughlin_1

Having been away from Excel for a while I remembered how to use VLOOKUP but couldn't recall how to use INDEX/MATCH. The exercises really helped me to regain that knowhow.

Instructor has a teaching style very conducive to mastering concepts and techniques. He first tells you how to do it, then he shows you how to do it. The flow of the material was consistent, and was presented in a visually graphic manner that was extremely easy to follow. The payroll-specific functions in this lesson can be used in a myriad of ways to produce timely, dynamic and detailed reports.

User Image
melissa_kronenberger

The course itself was fantastic. I would take pieces of it again as refreshers. Given the final exam is 160 questions, I would have been better suited to take the classes in two hour chunks with credit after each class. It was also incredibly frustrating to answer the same question numerous times in the final exam.

User Image
jelena.richard

I would like to see more real life examples in this course.

User Image
david_.ord

Enjoyed the take away for me of the importance of a leader looking ahead to the future instead of focusing on what happened in the past.

User Image
jsee_1

Once I understood the terminology, I had a blast with exercises.

User Image

This was an excellent presentation of tools that are key to efficient payroll analysis. The student should invest personal time practicing the applications but the material could not have been presented better. The overview followed by the actual application in the worksheet was extremely helpful in following along. All excel courses should be taught this way. Slides were well formatted and are usable for future reference.

User Image

User Image
rrees

Would appreciate more examples in the presentation - to cover more specific real life transactions. Or, more working through the math alongside IRS definitions/precidents and real deal terms. A working excel model, such as provided for other classes covering cash flow budgeting, might help as well. For one who is interested in the topic but has not handled a transaction in real life, more examples might help bridge gaps in terminology as well--had to research triple net leases offline for example, so my time to finish the course to well over the estimate. Thank you for the great presentation and valuable knowledge!!

User Image
grace.macharia

The overview was very informative. The introduction to the standard and the five step model are well explained. The slides were a helpful guide.

I thought Ms.Shirley was not so exciting to tell us why is so important to learn payroll accounting well, I encouraged her to be louder in the course. I thought the test in the last session is not so relevant to payroll accounting, and I still do not what is the different between wage and salary?FICA and someother similar concepts, so next time pls tell us more knowledges about payroll accounting. Thanks for Ms. Shirley's great work.

User Image
taek.kwon

Excel 2007 is very old. Please update with new version.

User Image
xiaoyun.ding

I like how cutting edge the topic is, but the lecturer style is a bit too academic.

User Image
guillermo.garcia

This course works best as a review for those trying to understand basic functions of Excel and have little knowledge of the platform as well. That being said, this course is certainly not worth the 24 dollar price tag.

User Image
marizabeth.arocha

Excellent overview about temporary differences, very useful examples and exercises

User Image
vince.torchia

The course makes it seem like these changes would be simple when in reality this is a very high level overview.

User Image
amy.yen

The section where the instructor compares Vlookup with Sumifs is extremely helpful. It illuminates under what circumstance to utilize each function and how they can be paired to yield the results users are looking for.

User Image
shelmeke

I ENJOYED THE INSTRUCTOR'S ENTHUSIASM. GRAPHIC INSTRUCTION WAS GOOD.

User Image
ldendrinos

I highly recommend this course to anyone working in accounting. The class material is filled with lots of examples. Great class.

User Image
shirley.devlin-lebow_1

Least favorite of my Illumeo courses thus far. Perhaps too much theory crammed into one hour with no practical examples or application discussed.

User Image
kristi.patton

I highly recommend this course. It was probably my most favorite course thus far. The presenter was well-spoken and impactful. His stories also help to keep you interested and wanting more.

User Image
kim.weaver

While I appreciated the course content, the course itself was slow paced. I would prefer faster pace.

User Image
tammy.lorenz

ramiro.campins

Great review of preparing indirect cash flow statement.

User Image
peter.abader

great course for definitions and basic understanding of forensic accounting

User Image
mei.ren

great class, easy to use, material presented well, very organized, key points listed for every subject

User Image

Overall I liked this course. Im not involved with cash flow with my current job but it was a very informative course to take for someone like myself. I would recommend to anyone looking to gain a greater understanding of cash flow forecasting.

User Image
kim.loanzon

I felt like the final exam was too easy and the wrong answers were very obvious. Though it was good for me/my CPE credits, I don't think its an effective way to evaluate whether or not I understood the materials.

User Image

User Image
sylviane.alexion

User Image
johaine.thomas-miranjie

Presentation was simple and clear. Easy to follow and understand. Useful for all levels of management.

User Image
aimee.swenson_1

This course is ok for HR professionals trying to learn basic accounting, not accountants trying to learn payroll accounting. Over half of the course was basic accounting.

User Image
jmetzger

Very good course, he takes you through every step beforehand, and then performs the steps after. Useful pro tips, I liked the part on how excel data is linked into Word, I used to do it a little differently and it was no where as good. Futher, the Microsoft Query as an alternative to links was quite useful as well....useful pro tips!

User Image
matthew.kissell

I like this course because it was very informative and thorough.

User Image
bill.clark

Very good detailed summary of all aspects of the new COSO framework.

User Image
michael.robertson

User Image

The format for examples is helpful conceptually but difficult to read due to messy handwriting.

Good overview of a complex subject presented in a clear, easy to follow way. It would be even better with real world examples.

User Image
ellen.hynes

Appreciate the thorough review, especially the foray into graphics.

User Image
oreillye

There were many tips for older versions of excel, not applicable in my case.

User Image
jon.koepke

Great insight on how Lease Accounting will change under IFRS 16. And all the decisions that must be made in properly booking right of use asset and liabilities starting next year

User Image
tonia.mathew

The overlap of information on the slides makes it hard for reference purposes.

User Image
eustunda

I thought Erik did a good job of covering the basics of the statement of cash flows in a short amount of time, but I wish that the final exam had been a better test of the viewer's knowledge. The questions were very basic and I would've much preferred being given a balance sheet/income statement and forced to construct a statement of cash flows that way. Still, I thought the instruction throughout was clear and the layout of the course made sense.

User Image
tjimenez

Good to learn specially if you're into a lot of presentations.

User Image
chalsey

The pace is slow, but this is a thorough review of basic accounting.

User Image
thalliday

It was a good course. I wish it would have gone into more with subtotaling as it relates to pivot tables. Never saw the need for a custom list but it was interesting to learn. My favorite part was learning the Alt = is the shortcut for SUM.

User Image
manish.kothari

The speaker has provided very nice explanation with examples.

User Image
susan.harder

Lots of helpful tips & insights. Good ideas of different ways to deal with conflicts.

User Image
sally.fonstein

Really helpful course with relevant information to use every day.

User Image
zarksis.italia

Excellent course for ratio analysis, very well presented

User Image
angan

This is an excellent starter course to get anyone who is interested in the new revenue recognition standards, ASC 606, familiar with the new requirements. It breaks down the 5 step model and explains what is required for each step.

User Image
kelly.venneri

I appreciated the simplicity. The different sections contained enough information to effectively get started using the commands.

User Image
shirley.bailey

Comprehensive overview with detailed steps to a good fraud mitigation program. Instructor laid out what was to be covered and then covered it.

User Image
michael.o'malley

Difficult to follow instructor as mutliple screen shots are applied to each slide in the presentation

User Image
gabriel.torralba

I'm a self-taught, no manual "trial and error" Excel user, who uses "intuition" and experience to create what I have to do. This often leads to long and convoluted steps to get to the final product. I learned a couple of features that basically cut those long convoluted steps to a step or two.

User Image
emaldin

I thought this was a great reminder and valuable class.

User Image
christine.seres

More time should be allocated to this course if the individual is attempting to complete the exercises as part of their training.

User Image
christine.edwards

Very insightful and great suggestions for creating a mutually beneficial relationship between leader and subordinates.

User Image
jacob.rothman

Good job logically laying this out. The use of video to demonstrate the technique was excellent. The instructor would be easier to listen to if he didn't end every sentance with "right?"

User Image
andrea.jones

good, easy to follow instruction with lots of examples

User Image
jfretschl

It was a clearly explained the topic and the financial impact of the changes

User Image

User Image
charles.tuggle

The text in the spreadsheet was too small to follow the instructor on a 17 inch monitor

User Image
erin.milroth

nothing to add good course on financial information that is useful in conversation

User Image
diane.suznovich

It seemed that slides were not in order. For example, the review of the first question was not presented until the final section. Also, 120/240 equals 50% not 240/120, which equals 2, as shown on the slides.

User Image
robert.jacobs

Very articulate, concise and insightful! I would recommend for anyone looking to improve their public presence.

User Image

Pacing is too slow.

User Image

Would like to see more live demonstrations of tasks instead of diagrams for the lessons. They just look jumbled and confusing.

User Image
renato.santos

I really enjoyed learning about the different ways to collect, merge and validate data. I thought is was very interesting and useful to know that there is an excel add-in where you can get data from the Federal Reserve (Fred) as well as data from the U.S. Census, and Google Trends.

Great Course!

User Image

Was easy to follow and understandable. If there was one thing it was lacking, it was explaining how to determine what increases or decreases with a credit/debit. He gave examples, but I don't think he really explained HOW you know that.

User Image
larry.przybylski

I found there was just to much information for me, but it was very good information.

Jeff is a great instructor. I did feel like I needed to review his techniques a few times to understand how he got to the conclusions. He made the 5 steps to Productivity seem extremely easy. I plan on using the keyboard shortcuts more often in my daily assignments. Those who are looking to transition more from using a mouse to keyboard shortcuts would benefit most from this training.
